I have never said anything negative about anyone or any site on GrahamPhisher.com and hopefully after this I never will again. I truly feel that someone has to say something about OfficialPSDs, in my opinion one of the worst graphic sites in history. Here’s my list of 8 Reasons Why OfficialPSDs Sucks.
1. OfficialPSDs is a resource site based off of “renders”/”cuts” of people and objects, and yet the site owner calls these cuts “PSDs”, sure their in PSD format which is one of the worst mistakes I’ve ever seen, since we all know a render is best stored in a PNG file, its much lighter in file size (think of the file space the owner of the site could of saved, probably 100′s of gigabytes.), but the point is a PSD really isn’t defined as a one layer cutout, so the site is titled wrong.
2. About 80% of the cuts on the site are all rough, obviously rushed, and hardly usable for any graphic work, they truly look like they were cutout with the magic wand tool. Not only that but with every female model cut you can bet the hair is extremely poorly cut out, and will sometimes even have white fringe around it, I don’t think anyone on there who submitted any female model cuts knows how to cut out hair properly.
3. How people talk on the forum, its beyond awful. Pretty much every member talks like a gangster (as most of you would call them e-thugs), come on get real your on a graphic design forum which is very far from gangster. This is really no big deal, but it gets very annoying over time.
4. The feedback on the forums is just bad. I don’t think I ever seen any constructive feedback on there, its usually just “yo I aint feelin dis” or “dam dawg shits hot!”. Many times I’ve seen users laughing at young graphic designers work, which is just awful because that’s so discouraging.
5. About 90% of the resources on their site are only ok for personal use, but it seems like the majority of the site’s members don’t care about permission when it comes to using copyrighted images in their paid work. There’s actually been a Judge Judy case (JudgeJudy is a popular daytime court show) where a member of their site got sued by a model for illegally using her picture in commercial design work.
6. They censor what their members say, on one topic, I was accused of something I didn’t do, not only was I accused, but attacked by one of their moderators “Envii” who called me a “asshole”. Basically someone reposted my “Myspace Layout Tutorial” video with a “Linkbucks” link in order to generate some ad revenue, and many moderators and members started to accuse me of posting the video in order to generate ad revenue off the site, so I signed up with legit membership info to say “Hey I didn’t post that video pce -grahamphisher”, and they deleted my post to lead everyone to believe I’m trying to make money off their site. Very crooked…
7. They probably have the record for most users banned. Just a tip if you ever plan to go over there, don’t ever get on the moderators bad side, you can apologize all you want or just ignore them, but please know OfficialPSDs pregnant teenage moderator “Envii”, and 50 year old moderator “LadyVishus” who sits on the forums all day will attack you in every topic you go into, if you get onto their bad side, and do everything in their power to get the admin to ban you. Even if you agree with who their against, they’ll ban you too.

8. The site is extremely poorly designed for a graphic design community. The admin and owner has promised several times about a year ago to update the site, but never has, many users have actually remade the site template, just in my opinion, these remakes definitely gave the site a cleaner feel, but the admin was too lazy to even use them.

9. Well there’s now a 9th reason, even the owner of OfficialPSDS thinks the site sucks. (Cheez = OP Admin)
Although on our discussion on AIM, his intention didn’t seem like he wanted to fix these problems with OPSDs, but it seems he’s annoyed that when you search for OfficialPSDs on most search engines that this article usually pops up in the first 3 results, and his true objective was to have me remove the article. (Not Happening)

I completely agree with this whole post.. infact, I wont even join their site! I went into the forums to the ‘How To’s’ section in hopes of learning some new tricks/ techniques… all I see is comments like ‘U MITE WANNA STEP YO SKILLZ UP BEFO ASKIN HOW TO DO SOMETHIN’ (pauses to laugh for a while). Occasionally they do respond to the question in the most condescending way.. like ‘use photoshop’ or ‘google it’ -sighs- Moderators are actually hilarious on the forums! they act like the’re Clint Eastwood and everyone should suck up to them because they can ban you… “no, surely not a ban!”(sarcastic voice) the only one good that come from that site is that i believe i discovered this website from it. -rant complete- lmao sorry for going on but It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who thinks OfficialPSD’s fails.

I agree… i use it a lot, and i just recently signed up with it, i talked to no one. all i did was sign up for it and upload ONE pic ive done. And got a little criticism etc, and next thing you know, im banned today! it didnt even say why! i said reason: nah; when the ban will be lifted: never
im super pissed!

I agree with everything you said. I use to be member of this site and had the top psds of the month more than once and yet they banned me for putting a topic in a different section of the forum. Soon receiving a letter saying that I was warned before (which I was not) and they permanently banned me. Another thing that really pissed me off about this site was how everyone talks shit about the begginer graphic designers and dont say anything helpfull to change their project up but to say bullshit.

I completely agree with this. The people are ignorant on there. And the “psds” are so poorly done. I downloaded one thing off their site and I never have again. I mean in the time it takes to erase away all the funky edges and fix all the mistakes I could have made my own Lol! I never understood how “dope” or “dizzam” are postive feedback.

I SOOO FEEL THIS ARTICLE! i got banned for “constant troublemaking” and i didn’t cause trouble! i just asked questions the mods apparently took personal and one of them was did they get paid for what they do because they take it waaay to seriously? i know the FB page of envii, she has like 3-4 kids, who the hell has that kind of time to be on OPSDs like that with 3-4 kids. Vishus is just ignorant and on a power trip, ha i’m so over them.

I totally agree…I am supremegfx and when I speak and talk back wit curse words I get banned. For things I didnt do. I lost like 5 email accounts just signing up wanted to get feed back for my work. I talk shit back so thats why I get banned.

My #1 beef with Official PSDs? They post copyrighted material and pass it off as usable resources. Then they hide it under the technicality that the site is just for “fun” and “personal photoshop experimenting.” I’ve seen art from popular sites like DeviantART blatantly lifted and posted under their stock category. Stock! Come on. And the owner is probably pulling in a lot of dough from ads and views. Ridiculous.
